Thanks for visiting my blog!

The title, A Vibrant Day, pays homage to my dear friend, Kelly King, who regularly encouraged me to journal. I’ve never met a person who was better adapted to living and enjoying life than Kelly. Sadly, she passed away last year. She lives in the memory of many who loved her, and these memories inspire me daily.

In this vein, A Vibrant Day is meant to be a place where I share my love for living. A new friend said to me recently that sharing is caring, and that’s absolutely true. My life has been enriched in so many beautiful ways by the sharing of friends.

Welcome, friend.

I hope you enjoy these musings of a thirty-something woman. I’m an Registered Nurse who works on an orthopedics floor. I’m also a Certified Master Gardener. Vegetation will have a presence on this blog! I’m obsessed with beauty and fashion — I have been since I was old enough to walk into my closet and make my own clothing selections for the day. I’m the wife of an artist and art historian. I think he’s brilliant and I love him to the moon and back. His art will occasionally make an appearance on this blog. Lastly and certainly most importantly, I am the mother of a funky 7-year-old boy and a spunky 11-year-old girl. Believe me, they’ll make their mark here, too.

Thank you again for visiting my blog!

  1. Hello, Jane Schub founder of STRANGEBEAUTIFUL Library of Color. Thank you for the review of my product collaboration.I must say this is a first concerning the bubbling I just tried the polish on and and this has nor occurred. My manufacturer is a global leader in the manufacturing of nail polish so I am baffled. I would like to physically review the polish and replace it with another for you.If you would be so kind as to email me your address I will dispense the replacement asap.

    Thank you in advance

    Best regards
    Jane Schub

    • That would be fantastic. And, of course I would love to do a redo review. I love the founding premise of your product!! I’ll get you my address. Do I understand you correctly that you’d like me to send my bottles back to you? I’d be happy to.

    • Thank you! I’m super appreciative of your nomination, and glad that you found my blog! I followed yours as well. I did an award post recently, so I should skip this time. I enjoyed your post though, and found a couple new blogs to follow, too! :o)

  2. Hi, I just wanted you to know that I love your blog and I nominated you for the ‘One Lovely Blog Award’. This is just my way of letting you know that you are an inspiration. Keep doing what you do!

  3. Hello from Houston! I am a fellow nurse, I have been one for 17 years? Wow, I’m old . I have enjoyed your blog and will be checking out the beauty subscriptions box. I have also been looking into the fashion one. My budget is tight, hubby is in the process of a career change, a long complicated story, but I am determined to get a little more fashion savy this year. I wish you luck on your NCLEX, I remember the stress. I have a fantastic job, make great money and I am only 10 minutes from home!! I never knew the wisdom of choosing nursing as a career, I am a mother of six, but it has allowed me to change my job roles as life changed with the kids. I have started a blog, but of a totally different subject. I am unsure of how to get more out of the followings, and more importantly a way to make money, eventually, from it. If you could take a few moments, point me in the direction of anything helpful, I would be so grateful. I am loving your style on the popbasic, Jane microcollection, and look forward to seeing more. Thanks.

    • Hi, Lesa!
Thanks for saying hi :0) I’m so happy to hear that nursing has turned out to be ideal for you. It’s such an honorable profession. I can’t wait to get my feet wet! Thanks for the NCLEX well wishes. Augh!
I would love to check out your blog. Honestly, iIstarted my as a creative outlet while I was in nursing school. I needed an escape from nursing school stress. I haven’t had a chance to research how to make a blog into a financially beneficial endevour. I know people do it. I often read that bloggers have been approached to write about a specific company or product. I’m not sure what they’re doing to open those channels. I just picked up a book called (I think) Blog, inc. I’m interested to discover that part of the blogging world, too.
I’m glad you enjoy the Popbasic posts. I love that little company. Have you heard of threadUp? I’m going to do a post about it soon, but it’s second-hand high-end fashion. I’ve found some great deals… (Dangerous!!)
      Thanks for saying hi :0)

      • Lesa says

I have heard of Threadup, and I have purchased from them. its been awhile, and extra money is going to maintenance on the jeep. I too started the blog as an outlet. My husband, an attorney, got a DWI #3. Old ones were long ago, when, in his words, he was a different person. Not making an excuse, but, he thought he was being careful, and he was over the limit. We started the blog to deal with our emotions as we wait to see what will happen. The emotional stress is overwhelming, and for him, it is a new culture in jail, quite different from life of an attorney. I am doing my socializing online, since I have become somewhat of a recluse. I know you are busy, but would love your feedback on my site. http://www.lockedapart.blogspot.com. Keep up the studying, it is indeed a honorable profession. I feel humbled so often by my patients strength, and I do what I can to help them. You know what I mean if you work at an elder care home.

    • Hi, Lesa. I’m so sorry about your recent hardships. I hope that 2015 brings you easier times!! I will take a look at your blog. Take care!

  4. Hi, Jacqueline – I wanted to take this time to thank you not only for your wonderful blog and smile and charm, but for your friendship! Although we’ve only met through blogging, I think we are kindred spirits and look forward to keeping in touch. I hope your last semester of nursing went well. Please let me know how the NCLEX goes. I’ve mentioned you in my End-of-Year Report: http://wp.me/p1aWNl-ND. Have a wonderful 2015!
    Hugs, Renate
